| Coffee Shop | Kageyama x Male!Reader | Chpt. 4

It was only yesterday that you were given the opportunity to join the team, and yet it felt like forever before you could run it by the team.You had originally planned to ask the boys when you saw them at school, but so far, that was not working out well. The boys were no where to be found, but the few times you thought you caught sight of them you had turned the corner and chickened out. Why was this such a difficult task?
All you had to do was pull Daichi to the side, maybe with the help of Tanaka and Nishinoya, and ask him to join the team.

But with your anxiety this was the equivalent of disarming a bomb, and you weren't doing very good. However, you didn’t give up hope because you were certain the boys would come by the coffee shop like they’ve been doing for awhile, and that would give you the chance to ask them the question that’s been bugging you for hours now. But knowing your luck, this would be the one day of the week that they decided against coffee and just went straight home.

You couldn’t help but imagine all the things that could go wrong as you made your way over to the coffee shop for the day. It bugged you even more that you would have to sit there for at least an hour before the boys headed down this way, and the time was slowly eating away at your very being.

But in order to keep yourself from stabbing an eye out with a straw, you decided to drown yourself in your work. There was not one point in that single hour that you stopped to relax. you were either cleaning, making drinks, or conversing with the customers. The thought however did not completely leave from your mind because every now and then you would get a spike of panic, and you’d have to scurry off to do something else.

Your actions went on like this for awhile, and you were slowly losing energy. So now you simply just sat behind the counter and waited for them to arrive. You could hear the bell to the coffee shop chime, but you didn’t wanna look up because knowing you, you would have gotten overly excited for a random guest. Because of that, you just waited for the customer to make their way over to the counter.

You weren’t gonna look up until you heard rather loud laughing from a rather familiar voice. You shot up from your set and practically throw yourself over the counter.

“HEY YOU GUYS!” Your sudden outburst caused the entire group of people to stare at your beaming form. A few of the boys snickered, and a couple of them just stared at you thinking about how someone so tall could remind them of a small puppy greeting their master.

The captain broke the awkward staring contest with a chuckle, and made his way over to you.

“How are you d-” You reached over quickly and placed your hand on his mouth. You were tired of waiting for the boys to get here, and your original plan of action was thrown out the door when your excitement took its place.

“No time for small talk Daichi, I need to ask you something very important.” Before you could say anything Tanaka and Nishinoya were running up the counter because they could already tell what you were going to ask. Tanaka was gonna yell something, but you sent him a glare that said ‘you better shut your loud mouth if you know what's good for you.’ With that they slithered away and allowed you to continue your conversation.

You released Daichi’s mouth and stood upright behind the counter. “I would like to ask you...if you would allow me to join the team.” The room went silent and all the boys stared at you with wide, speechless eyes. The boys just stared, and it was actually making you rather uncomfortable, so you let out a nervous cough to bring the guys back to life.

They all blinked a few times and like a flash of light, all beamed with sudden excitement. The two loud mouths were practically rolling on the floor and foaming at the mouth at this whole situation. The first years conversed happily among each other and kept stealing looks at you. And then there was the third years, who smiled at you like proud fathers.

“Of course you can join the team. I’ve been waiting for you to ask for awhile now. The dumbasses wont stop talking about how good they believe you are, and I can’t help but wanna see if what they say is true... That and you’ve been drawing all of us obsessively for weeks now.” He gestured to your open sketchbook, and snickered as he saw you scurry to close it.

“You’re free to stop by practice tomorrow if you’d like to.” You frantically nodded and knocked over a couple of empty cups in your happy state. They all just laughed and watched as you staked the cups up and pretended as tho nothing happened.

“Thank you so much for allowing me to join so late in the year.” You looked at the team with apologetic eyes and let your head drop to a slight bow.

Daichi just laughed and waved his hand in a dismissive manner. “Its okay, but onto another topic, could we get our orders now?” He said with a smile.

You laughed and nodded in agreement as you reached for a stake of new cups, and began the drink preparations. And unaware to all of you guys, a man stood behind the curtain that lead to the staff room. A big goofy smile plastered on his face.

“What am I gonna do with that boy..” The boss said with a hearty chuckle as he returned to the back of the small coffee shop.
